He heard a new word without making the effort to understand it. Narcissism is a person to person, relationship and psycho-behavioral syndrome. I’m wondering how Ghanaians with dollar holdings and unhappy about the currency’s depreciation, if VV is right, can be labeled as narcissistic. Better words to use include unpatriotic, miserable, not enthused, upset, gloomy or even angry, loser. In describing how some may feel, the word “narcissistic” is far off the choice to grab because it relates to self-admiration, lack of empathy and a constant need for validation from others.

The appreciation or depreciation of currency is micro-econmic thing. When you finish with th fanfare and jubilation, we are going to start looking at the real issues on the ground. What is the unemployment situation? What is the minimum wage? etc. Appreciation of the currency is good for local consumers. However, producers aren't going to decrease prices as much as they would increase when the cedis depreciate. Meanwhile, when we export our gold and cocoa we're gonna get the money in dollars so the value in cedis will be low. And if your employer is to only exports, you are close to being laid off because international consumers are about to find out cheapers goods elsewhere. So, if you know what's up, you're neither jubilanting nor crying over this. We "Catch our soldier" and now in a dilema. But, if you are someone who want to score political points without considering the nitty-gritty of things, you are free to join the fanfare. However, just remember there's was a time in our history when $1 was equal to Ghc 1, yet the NPP was still voted out of power. Because at the end of the day, Ghanaians were asking "Where are the jobs?"

Wasn’t the average Ghanaian crying over the instability and the incessant rise of the dollar?? Wasn’t the Ghanaian businessmen complaining?? Were you not in this country where prices of goods and services fluctuated every four to five hours??
I agree the effect isn’t trickling down massively as expected but it will with time. Have you been to the pumps recently? what about the ports? you haven’t been there recently too I suppose.
Let’s stop the politicking, this is no fanfare!
There’s always a trade-off in every economic situation.

What an idiot! You ignorants pricks always exposing your low knowledge about the dollar depreciating. You realise there are local industries that employ so many people and that with the dollar going down when all the other variables are high, ie, electricity, fuel, spare parts and food their profit margins are virtually depleted and therefore businesses will collapse in this current system. Why can't you people open your eyes and understand are over reliance on imports is the reason we have low job quality and that the only way for this nation to really make progress is local industries supported and not abandoned!

The BoG must be realistic and tells Ghanians what economic benefits has the country gained since the dollar starts to fall. If Ghanians are exporting more than importing which has made the dollar dropping then the country has to jubilate. But now what is the sense of the going down whilst prices of goods and services are going up?The BoG should also tell Ghanaians how much foreign currencies were coming to the country especially from the United states when the dollar was up compared to now and the economic impact it has on the country.
