I have found it almost impossible to explain to lazy, poor and unimaginative people who think that all rich people are rich because they are mean spirited, hoarders and evil people who exploit others.
In reality the vast majority of the very rich who accumulate wealth (through HARD WORK,DISCIPLINE ,SACRIFICE,FRUGALITY,COURAGE and TENACITY) are far more generous than the average person and most had a generous spirit long before they became wealthy or successful.
Even the Holy scriptures testify to these factors see Proverbs 11:25

Those who live to bless others will have blessings heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessings will be saturated with favor.
B. King James Version (KJV)
The liberal soul shall be made fat: And he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

To be honest during the courtship and dating period any observant person should be able to discern RED FLAG (Danger) character traits and be able to make an informed decision. The main reason this does not happen more often is because people pay more attention to GOOD LOOKS, WEALTH, SOCIAL CONNECTIONS OR POPULARITY,THE PERSON OWNING A DESIRABLE FOREIGN PASSPORT than they do to CHARACTER AND VALUES.
A persons character is by far the most important determinant of the success and happiness of a future marriage and THIS APPLIES TO BOTH THE HUSBAND AND WIFE. Character in turn is shaped by the values and beliefs a person holds dearly. If a man believes strongly in the sanctity of marriage, that marriage is God-ordained, if they themselves are considerate by nature, respectful of others, gentle and kind, truthful, hard-working, honest then they will naturally look for a woman who shares the same great values, beliefs and ideals. "Can two walk together unless they be agreed?"
Good looks ,riches and all the other desirable things can be a bonus but they must never ever be the main reason a yung man or woman looks for a marriage partner.
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE RICH PEOPLE IN OUR MIDST WHO GOT THEIR RICHES THROUGH DEVIOUS MEANS OR THROUGH CORRUPTION- They actually represent a minority even in Ghana. Ill-gotten gains are never a source of long-term blessings.They bring far more trouble than good things.

Did he fall for the woman's good looks, glamour etc without paying close attention to her character and values? This tells me that the good doctor himself lacked solid values and good judgement. He now needs to invest in building his own character by acquiring and developing Godly values. The holy scriptures are an infallible guide.A life built on Godly principles and reverence and obedience to God's commands is one built on a very firm foundation.
