Most people who retire early on a voluntary basis seriously underestimate how much money they will need to be able to maintain a respectable standard of living.
1.Many forget to factor in INFLATION (in other words your $1000 today may only have a purchasing power of $500-$700 in 15 to 20 years time because of inflation and this happens to all currencies bar gold).
2.Many seriously underestimate the cost of living and do not make adequate provision for unexpected expenses due to ill-health in the family, the cost of repairing housing etc etc). Also natural disasters and even pandemics can change a persons ability to support themseves during retirement.
3.ONLY A FEW PEOPLE DO CAREFUL RESEARCH THAT ALLOWS THEM TO CREATE A VIABLE INCOME STREAM THAT WILL SUPPORT THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES DURING THEIR EXTENDED RETIREMENT YEARS.
In any case VERY EARLY RETIREMENT is generally not a good idea unless for health reasons. The prudent who retire early never really stop working or investing or maintaining an income stream of some sort.
