  The fact that Prince David Osei is a known NPP member and expressing so much admiration for JJ Rawlings tells of how much the man was love by al l and sundry in the Country. Rawlings is undoubtedly the greatest Ghanaian leader after Nkrumah. The obvious reason why Rawlings was so much love was because he was a servant leader who cared so much about the welfare of the people he ruled. Those who had issues with him were the corrupt ones and nation wreckers he zeroed in especially during the revolution. It such characters and their progeny who are still referring to him as a murderer. Unfortunately for such perverts, Rawlings legacy in Ghana's history is cemented with gold. The truth is that some military leaders have served and done far better done our current democratic dispensation. General IK Achampong is another
  example though admittedly military rules and coups come with their own problems such as lawlessness and extrajudicial killings when there is a takeover by a new regime at the initial stage. Achampong himself was a victim of the excesses of functionaries of the AFRC but not necessarily Rawlings which I think was unfortunate because his government might be associated with some malpractices but I don't think he was involved in any significant corruption and embezzlement of State funds giving the significant development he chalked for this Country, especially in the area of infrastructure and agriculture. The looting by government functionaries and the poverty and deprivation of the people we are seeing today under so-called democratic rule is unprecedented. Former Nigerian President retired General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida's recent book highlighted the problems and excesses of military takeovers. But on comparative basis, stable military rule has been relatively effective than democratic governance in terms of development and serving the interest of citizens.. Military rule guarantee transparencyy and accountability. Hopefully, we will experience more political commitment and will from. political rulers to fight corruption and social injustice in a more selfless way than ever. We need political leaders of the mould of Rawlings as nationalist and patriots who are keen on the national interest than their narrow parochial interest of amassing wealth and self aggrandizement using privilege position of power.. The second regime of President John Mahama has so far been impressive in demonstrating the good will to serve the masses as majority poor tax contributors unlike his predecessor Nana Addo who was a disaster in protecting public funds and promoted the culture of oligarchy in which his elite political family milk the nation dry.. I am happy with the mentality of the current President Mahama but it should be a lesson to some. of the relatives of Nana Addo like Ken Ofori Atta and Asante Bediatuo who are now struggling with debilitating conditions that money and mundane things mean nothing in this world when you fina last resting place, THE GRAVE. It is about a lasing legacy and making people have good memories about you for what you did for humanity.. That is what defined JJ Rawlings, the Man of Integrity up till date even in death. A measure of that's indelible footprints by Rawlings is the severe backlash received when a loose tongue parliamentarian made the 'daughter of murderer' comment in no other place than the floor of parliament demonstrating the general moral decadence and indiscipline in a so-called democratic dispensation defined by parliament itself as its bedrock.
