Sometimes we need to learn to be "givers" rather than mere "takers".Also sometimes we have problems because we expect too much from imperfect human beings while forgetting that we ourselves are far from perfect.
Sister Afia comes across as a very smart woman and I suspect that she thinks she could be part of the problem.
As a "man of God " used to say to us "the starting point is dealing with the person staring back at you in front of your mirror". In other words ourselves. Let's fix ourselves ( or more precisiely let's collaborate with the God of Heaven so that we can get fixed)first before we attempt to straighten out other folk or make them more suitable to uor tastes.
Our belifs and values are critical here.The good news is that even though our character may have been partly shaped in a negative way by unfavourable surroundingss or bad encounters with others ,for example while we were growing up we can still change! Cynism can be replaced with optimism and inspiration. Meanness ,unkindness and callousness can be replaced with kindness, gentleness and generosity of spirit. Persimism replaced with with hope.Sarcasm replaced with kindheartedness,sympathy,warmth and cordiality.
Ultimately our relationship with our maker is key. We were created to have an intimate relationship with our creator. Psalm 1 and Psalm 23 sum it up nicely.The Lord Jesus Christ put it this way: Matthew Chapter 11 verse 28-30: 28Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

The Bible teaches us to have contrite hearts concerning 'sin' (having a feelinig of remorse and the desire to repent), and not glorify it.
