Yes it's possible that America can grant him green card because he is famous, and not only America does that many countries also do as well, especially people in sports so try to be famous, all human laws can be changed.

He doesn't have to win the visa lottery or get married. He very likely obtained his residency through being an accomplished artist back in his homeland as required by the immigration act. And he can show proof of his accomplishments by offering news clippings and statements from officials in the recording industry in Ghana as well as statements from relevant Ghana government agency officials.

A medical doctor, lawyer, architect, painter, electrician, driver, teacher, pharmacist, Accountant, Auditor, Cook or Chef, etcetera, etcetera, must still go back to school to learn to do things "The American Way" and to meet the American Standards.
