Just because Solomon and David did something doesn’t mean Christians are supposed to follow their example. Don’t be silly. There’s a difference between descriptive narrative which simply tell us what happened without placing any requirement on us to do same and prescriptive passages which tell us what to do. In fact those Old Testament examples are given for our learning so that we know what not to do. Christians are obliged to follow the New Testament (New Covenant). We are not part of the OT covenant which was for the Jewish people as a nation.
