Madam you probably got "glandular fever" which used to be called the "kissing disease" because people thought that it was spread mainly via this route.Actually this is most commonly spread by inhaling droplet from an infected person coughing,sneezing etc.
It is a disease affecting mostly children,teenagers and young adults (outbreaks occur in schools from time to time).People who suffer this often feel more unwell than in ordinary tonsillitis and the disease may linger for longer especially in young females.
A lot of people infected with Glandular Fever may have no symptoms for up to 7 weeks yet be spreading the disease. Recovery from the disease is usually 100%
Now let's be real.You are far more likely to pick up an upper respiratory tract infection including glandular fever (which is a systemic disease- i.e.affect multiple organs in the body) while seated in a crowded auditorium, in an airline cabin, a crowded poorly ventilated bus. Please don't get paranoid because of what has been written here.Just go online to a reputable Medical web site and read about this condition (also called Infectious mononucleosis) .
