We congratulate the young couple and wish them every true happiness and success. However once the honey moon period (28 days) is over then comes the harsh reality of marriage. Will they survive and even thrive in their marriage or will they end up on the ever growing "borla" or rubbish heap of celebrity broken marriages so common these days?
They will succeed and even thrive if they wholeheartedly apply themselves to making their marriage a success. You see putting a ring on a woman's finger or a man's finger does not automatically make them a wife or husband .
ALL GOOD MARRIAGES GROW- a growing marriage is one that is getting better and better in spite of spouses discovering unpleasant habits and traits about the other they don't like and in spte of all the challenges that are a normal part of life. All good marriages require constant effort and often painful adjustments to the other person and this demands that both sides give up selfishness, inconsiderate behaviour,disrespect,bad temper , filthy personal habits etc etc
There is one area that is critically important in all marriage especially in the early stages-
IT IS THE MATTER OF IN-LAWS.Most couples need their own space and privacy to adjust and develop their identity as a couple .It is usually not a good idea to have in-laws intruding in your space even if they are well-intentioned. It can lead to confusion about loyalties, there can be toxic in-put from opinionated in-laws who often have a compulsive urge to interfere or influence events in the life of the newly married- this is one sure way to collapse a marriage. Where possible do not set up home with inlaws (yours or your spouses) living with you. Where possible live some distance away from inlaws.
IT IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT FOR NEWLY MARRIED COUPLES TO UNDERSTAND THAT THEIR FIRST LOYALTY IS TO THEIR OWN SPOUSE AND NOT TO THEIR FRIENDS RELATIVES OR EVEN PARENTS (EVEN WHERE THE PARENTS CONTRIBUTE SIGNIFICANTLY TO THEIR FINANCIAL WELLBEING- THAT IS A HOT TOPIC ALL BY ITSELF LEFT FOR ANOTHER DAY)
