Countless Ghanaians leave their wives behind (often with children) when the move abroad for work or study. To get their papers they often abandon the wife they married back home in Ghana via customary rites and go for a Westerner abroad. From what I have observed many of these "substitute" Western marriages don't last long . The very short lifespan of these sorts of unions are mainly because they are marriages of convenience and are self-serving so there is often a lack of deep commitment .
It is hard to feel sorry for these selfish characters when they get thrown out of their homes by their Western partners after they have themselves abandoned their wives and children back home in Ghana

Often - on both sides - you bring your wife/husband and within a short time (despite having 2/4 kids), you'd be losing her/him to someone else. Why it's so endemic as regards Ghanaian/Nigerian families is what I fail understand.
I know Senegalese, Mauritanians, Guineans, Gambians and Malians; this hardly happen it their families...
