I smell something fishy. If Idriss Elba has his own money to invest, what’s the role of BoG in his business? The Government Investment Policy Framework must be applied and no secret deals whatsoever. If Elba has investor funds to back him, it’s either a Private Sector Investment or Government/Private Sector Partnership that has absolutely nothing to do with the Central Bank. I’ve never heard of any Country’s Central Bank going into business with a Private Investor like this. Creative Arts is not Macroeconomics. The respective Ministries and State Institutions are there, Music and Film Industry Players like TV3, NAFTI as well as Private Investors are there. If Elba doesn’t think through and involves the Bank of Ghana in any dubious deals, he risks asset confiscation and penalties should a new Government decide to examine the details. No, BoG is not the place for an individual desiring to set up an Acting Studio or Records Company.

For all you know, Fraudsters in the likes of Blay Miezah and Nam 1 are using Idris Elba to fleece unsuspecting African Countries. They’ll wear nice suits and talk big talk to hain legitimacy and then raise big money. In a short period of time when people become convinced it has Government support and put in money, otilor they’ll be nowhere to be found. It is a new trick these guys use in ripping off citizens in 3rd World Countries where oversight is zero.
