Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), who has been meeting Ghanaians in Diaspora the past two weeks, took some time to write on the Ghanaweb discussion forum - Say It Loud.

I wish to express my disappointment over the statement ( read ) reportedly issued by the General Secretary of the CPP over comments supposed to have been attributed to me by the Statesman newspaper. I would have preferred that the General Secretary had sought to confirm the story with me.

I am very much aware of the sensitive and delicate nature of the Yendi crisis. I will not in any circumstance introduce a political angle to the situation that unfortunately persists in the Yendi area and indeed in many parts of the Northern region. The situation is preventing development from taking place. As one of the proponents of the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy, I know that indeed the Northern region is one of the most poor areas in Ghana. Nothing should be done by anyone to further prolong the crisis in any way shape or form.

I have avoided making any comments about the Yendi crisis period. It is my hope that noone will attempt to draw me into any politicisation of the unfortunate Yendi problem. The CPP leadership should know me better than to rush to the press with something they have not confirmed with me. There are more important issues for the CPP to deal with than such skewed reporting. This is another case of Ghanaians being more interested in matters with a political angle than those than can move our development efforts.

The development of Ghana is more important than politics and any political party.
