Afro-dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has indicated that he has no objection to sharing a stage with colleagues Shatta Wale and Sarkodie, but maintains that each of them must first progress independently.
The Afro-dancehall artiste stressed that any such convergence must happen organically rather than be engineered for optics, adding that mutual goodwill among all three artistes is essential.
Speaking to content creator Kobe Boujee, Stonebwoy argued that chasing a headline-grabbing joint performance at the expense of individual artistic growth is misplaced.
According to him, true collective success is built on strong individual foundations.
Citing African superstars like Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido, he noted that the continent’s biggest stars first built their legacies independently before coming together.
Why Stonebwoy is taking BHIMFest to the UK in 2026
“I believe individual growth affects collective growth. Each one of us has to grow, and that is the most important thing, rather than forcing growth together. It’s important for each of us to be progressing, and when the time comes, we can share one stage at a time,” Stonebwoy said.
He further raised concerns about the internal dynamics within the industry, pointing to the importance of genuine support among artistes.
“If there are people who do not want the well-being of others, how can they come together and perform? They said we have to become a group right now to succeed. Meanwhile, individual success is important. How we relate to each other’s success also tells a lot.
He added: “It speaks a lot about how we can do collectively. When you have a system where you find out that, individually, you can clearly draw that there are persons who do not seek the well-being of others. How then can we now collectively come together when individually there’s so much envy?”
