Event centres that rent out their spaces for any “Celebration of Life” event in honour of the late Daddy Lumba risk facing legal action following an injunction issued by the High Court in Accra, a lawyer with Baba Jamal & Associates has warned.

Fati Ali Yallah, representing former family head Kofi Owusu, explained that the court’s decision to adjourn the ongoing injunction case indirectly bars such events, and anyone who facilitates them could be cited for contempt.

Addressing the media at a press conference on March 25, 2026, she noted that the directive goes beyond venues to include individuals and businesses involved in preparations for the event.

According to her, anyone who produces or brands items bearing Daddy Lumba’s image for use at a celebration of life event will also be held accountable.

She added that the restriction applies regardless of who is named as the focus or organiser of the programme.

She said even if the event is presented as being for Akosua Serwaa Schindler, Papa Shee, or Wofa Yaw Poku, it would still fall under the injunction if it is framed as a “Celebration of Life".

'We will celebrate Akosua Serwaa instead' – Papa Shee after court adjournment

“There is an injunction on Daddy Lumba’s ‘Celebration of Life’ event. Any event centre that rents out its venue for it risks legal action from Baba Jamal’s lawyers, as we consider that contempt of court. The same applies to anyone supplying chairs, packs, keyholders, or any branded items bearing Daddy Lumba’s name for such an event.

“Whether it is for organised by Akosua Serwaa, Papa Shee, or Wofa Poku, as long as it is a ‘Celebration of Life’ event, we will take action. The court has already given its ruling, and anyone who disregards it will be dealt with accordingly,” she said.

In a related development, Baba Jamal & Associates, representing their client Victor Kofi Owusu, confirmed in a statement issued on March 25, 2026, that the High Court in Accra had upheld an application for an interlocutory injunction.

The statement indicated that the order, which took effect the same day, specifically restrains Nana Yaw Akosa, Akosua Serwaa Schindler, Ernestina Fosu, and Wofa Yaw Poku, as well as their agents or assigns, from organising, promoting, or hosting any event titled “Celebration of Life.”

It further stated that the order covers the events scheduled for Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Independence Square, or at any other location.
