The new acting head of the late Daddy Lumba’s family, Abusuapanyin Kwabena Brefo, has directed lawyers representing the former family head, Kofi Owusu, to discontinue an ongoing injunction case linked to the late singer’s ‘Celebration of Life’ event.
In a letter dated March 25, 2026, addressed to Baba Jamal & Associates, legal representatives of Kofi Owusu, Kwabena Brefo stated that he has officially assumed the role of acting family head following the customary removal of Victor Kofi Owusu Boahene on March 11, 2026.
Introducing himself also as Jones Kennedy Brefo, he explained that his new role places him in charge of all legal matters concerning the family.
As part of this transition, he requested a full update from the lawyers on all cases previously handled under the former family head's instructions.

Central to his directive is the instruction to discontinue a specific case filed at the court.
The suit, referenced as GJ/0437/2026 and titled “Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu versus Akosua Serwaa Fosuh & three others,” is said to no longer reflect the interests of the family.
According to Kwabena Brefo, the decision to withdraw the case was taken at the family's instructions, indicating a shift in position regarding the legal dispute.
He asked the lawyers to take the necessary steps to discontinue the case by the close of the day, March 26, 2026.
The acting family head also requested details of any outstanding legal fees owed to the firm for services rendered so far.
He indicated that further communication should be routed through his lawyer, Bright Obeng of Hayfron-Benjamin & Co, based in Kumasi.
To support his claim as the new acting head, Brefo attached a letter from the Chief of Parkoso confirming his appointment.
