350 Liberians leave for home

Accra, Dec. 13, GNA - About 350 Liberian refugees begin a three and a half-day journey back home on the MV Cerano from Tema, Ghana's main port on Wednesday December 15.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, (UNHCR) in a statement signed by Mr Needa Jehu-Moyah, Public Relations Officer of UNHCR said the exercise was the largest convoy and the first sea movement in the repatriation of Liberian refugees.

It said following the signing of the Tripartite Agreement to govern the voluntary repatriation of Liberian refugees from Ghana which was signed between the governments of Ghana and Liberia and UNHCR in Accra on 22 September 22, this year, some 1,000 Liberian refugees have since gone home through the assistance of UNHCR, Ghana.
