19-year-old Eleanor Seku believes Volta Region will be producing the 2015 Miss Ghana Queen.

According to her, the Volta Region has all it takes to win as she represents the region at this year’s Miss Ghana pageant.

“It is not difficult to represent the Volta Region. It is actually a pleasure to represent my region where I come from. I am happy and as part of our projects I am to identify social challenges in the area to help solve. Absolutely, the Volta Region will present 2015 Miss Ghana,” she said in an interview.

“We are caring, hospitable and we are respectable. We respect and take tradition serious. So being part of Miss Ghana, I am going to exhibit those characteristics,” she added.

Eleanor comes from Agbozume in the Volta Region. She is the last of seven girls. She lost her mother at age four. She has since been taken care of by her dad, who is a lecturer.

She just gained admission to study Psychology and Information Studies at the University of Ghana. She had her secondary education at Achimota Senior High School, where she studied General Arts. It has always been her dream to take part in Miss Ghana and this year happens to be a perfect time for her.

“Miss Ghana organisers are much organised. They have been teaching us to be time conscious. They basically have been grooming us very well. They are teaching us how to carry ourselves in public, how to sit, stand and talk. I feel like I am already a woman. With Miss Ghana, I will become a better woman,” she said.

“When I was younger I thought Miss Ghana was for older people and I thought it was boring but then being part of it now I see it in a total different light. I feel like it is for every young woman who wants to be better and do more for themselves. I feel like it’s a women empowerment programme. For me it is the best.”

According to her, she joined the pageant because she wanted to use the platforms to empower people around her.
