Samira Bawumia, the wife of Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia is facing strong condemnation from a section of the public for her style of dressing to public functions.

Many Ghanaians commended her for her impeccable sense of fashion and style, which has boosted her popularity among Ghanaians, especially the youth, in recent times.

She is now considered by many Ghanaian women as the ultimate fashion icon.

Not everyone, however, is happy with this trend. Immediately after Bawumia's Ghana @ 60 outfit began trending online, some Ghanaian Muslims took to social media to express their disgust at what they said was Samira's "anti-Islamic" dressing.

They angrily pointed out on Twitter that a married woman like Samira must not dress the way she does.

According to them, Samira's dress used to entire body during the 2016 election campaign, but since the New Patriotic Party won, she has opted for clothes which give prominence to her shape and curves. They also complained about the lack of veil on her head.

Accordingly, some of them have shared their recommendation as to how Samira should dress.

This kind of dressing, they say, is properly representative of Islam.

The concerned Muslims urged her to dress like that all the time in line with what they said was her Islamic faith.
