Being a highly respected Ghanaian pastor does not just take a large congregation but also a very influential presence in Ghana’s most heated political environment.

To this effect, Ghana’s most popular and sometimes controversial pastors are likely to fear for their lives anytime they take to the pulpit to preach a sermon or even make a public statement.

Here is a list of some very influential Ghanaian pastors who most likely put on bullet proof vests for personal safety

1. Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams

Founder of Action Chapel, Nicholas Duncan Williams is most likely to be on the list of pastors who wear bullet proof vests which are also known as ballistic vests. Considering his preoccupation with praying for presidents and Ghana as a whole, Duncan Williams may be a target of attack by persons or groups who feel intimidated by his success as the father of Ghana’s Charismatic church.

2. Mensa Otabil

Pastor Mensa Otabil has always been on the lookout for attacks from politically inflamed opposing forces. Considering his deep and technical insights into Ghana’s slow development growth and leadership crisis, the founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) was not just alleged to have been on the death list of former president Jerry John Rawlings but also experienced a two failed attacks on him during a live sermon during the 2012 election period.

3. Dag Heward Mills

Talk of politicians publicly known to be linked with political parties and Dag Heward-Mills would definitely be mentioned. With a large membership and vibrant media presence, founder of the Light House Chapel, Dag Heward-Mills has come under a barrage of criticism over his alleged linkage with the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC). Although threats against his life remain unknown, it would not be a surprise that Mr. Heward-Mills is on the red alert for personal attacks against his life.

4. Isaac Owusu Bempah

Founder of the Glorious Word Ministry, Isaac Owusu Bempah is undoubtedly one of the most controversial pastors in Ghana. Isaac Owusu Bempah has been in the news for various politically controversial reasons – predicting victory for the opposition leader Nana Addo Danquah not forgetting the verbal scuffles with colleague members of God as Obinim.

No one needs to tell Pastor Bempah that he may need some form of tightened security should he have his personal safety at stake.
