King Dogo declared winners after protest

Ho, Jan. 14, GNA - The Disciplinary Committee of the Milo National Colts Championship currently underway in Ho on Tuesday declared King Dogo Football Club winners after their opponents, Volta Academy fielded an unqualified player.

King Dogo protested against the validity of an extra player the Academy team used to win their quarter final match on Monday which they said was against the rules of the competition.

Mr Henry Aryee, Chairman of the Publicity Committee for the Championship, in an interview told the GNA Sport that all clubs must register 18 players and five accompanying officials according to the regulations of the game.

He therefore, said the registration of each team at the commencement of the championship constituted its approved contingents at the tournament. Mr Aryee said Academy in their third match against King Dogo on Monday however featured Collins Adzo as an extra player during the said match, which warranted the disqualification of their team and the loss of the points.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Babies from the Ashanti Region have qualified to play in the finals of the under 17 and 14 categories on Thursday. They would take on Frankfurt FC from the Eastern Region and ABS from the Central Region respectively.

Results of the Under 17 semi final games are; Frankfurt beat Anokye from the Ashanti Region, 1 - 0; Cornerstone Babies also beat King Dogo FC 1 - 0.

The results of the Under 14 are; ABS 3 - Crystal Babies 0; Cornerstone Babies won their match against Golden Boys 4 - 2 on penalties after a goalless full time.
