Ghanaian Businessmen To Storm Nordic Countries

Accra A 41-member trade and investment delegation leaves Accra on Saturday, May 17, for Denmark to explore business opportunities in the Nordic countries. The team, made up of 17 public and 24 private sector officials, will be led by Mr. Dan Abodakpi, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. The team will visit Norway and Sweden, a statement from the Ghana Export Promotion Council (GEPC), coordinators of the trip, said today. The statement said members of the team will hold talks with their Nordic counterparts and showcase some Ghanaian products at mini-exhibitions. A film entitled "Ghana On The Move" will be shown in each of the three countries. "This high-level mission is designed to create a forum for companies in Ghana and the Nordic countries, analysts and portfolio managers to look at potential and direct investments and trade expansion opportunities," it said. The trip is also part of efforts aimed at enhancing Ghana's image as the gateway to doing business in West Africa because of the political stability and favourable economic policies instituted by the government. Among public sector officials who will make the trip are Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi, Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council, Mr. Tawia Akyea, Executive Secretary of GEPC, Nana Amo Adade Boamah, Chief Executive of the Ghana National Procurement Agency and Mr. E.A. Agbodo, Executive Secretary of the Divestiture Implementation Committee. Those from the private sector include DR A.A. Owusu, Executive Chairman of Astek Fruit Processing Company, Mr. Joseph Kudjordzi, Managing Director, Signotrade, Mrs. Diana Quansah, Nova Complex Limited, Mr. Afoko Amoah, Managing Director, Farmers Services Limited, and DR E.O. Asante Adom, Orchard and Agro Products Limited.
