Mfantseman Utd demand transfer fees from Olympics

Mankessim (C/R), May 11, GNA - The management of Mfantseman United Football Club, a second division team at Mankessim has appealed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Players Status Committee to ensure that Accra Great Olympics and Tano Bofoakwa Football Club meet their contractual agreement with it.

Speaking to the GNA, Nana Sakyi III, Chairman of Mfansteman United stated that seven players of the Club, Kojo Poku, Osei Boateng, George Yamoah, Kennedy Korli, Isaac Owusu, John Cudjoe and Baffour Senkyere were released to Bofoakwa in June 2001 for a total transfer fee of 85 million cedis.

Nana Sakyi, who is also the Obaatan of the Nkusukum Traditional Area, stated that Bofoakwa reneged on the contractual agreement but managed to transfer John Cudjoe to Olympics, which also transferred him to Kumasi Asante Kotoko for a fee of 100 million cedis.

He stated that Olympics were informed of Boafoakwa's indebtedness to the Club for the transfer fees of players loaned to it, which implied that they still belonged to Mfantseman United.

According to GFA rules, 40 million out of the 100 million cedis paid by Kotoko should go to Mfantseman United since Bofoakwa, which gave out the player did not pay his transfer fee.

Nana Sakyi stated that Olympics have refused to pay the money after several demands.

"How can we hunt for talents if we have this amount locked up with other clubs?" he asked.

He said the Club, which produced players such as Hamidu Dramani now the camp of the Black Stars, Saliu Muntari of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kojo Poku Jnr, George Yamoah, Mohammed Alhassan and John Cudjoe all of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Osei Boateng of Berekum Arsenals and Kenneth Korli now in the camp of Under-17 National Team could no longer hunt for talents because of financial constraints.

"Since Olympics have collected the transfer fee of John Cudjoe from Kotoko, the Accra team should pay what is due us without further delay", Nana Sakyi added.
