German philanthropist commended for humanitarian gesture

Winneba (C/R), Nov. 28, GNA- Management of Winneba Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) Preparatory, Primary and Junior Secondary Schools, have commended Mr Horst Waskow, a 64-yearold German philanthropist for his contributions towards the promotion of basic education in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District. Elder Michael Appiah-Baffoe, the Proprietor said Mr Waskow has within the past two years, donated a number of teaching aids, sporting kits, desks, uniforms and shoes worth 24 million cedis towards the effective running of the schools.

He made the commendation at a ceremony where the German philanthropist donated teaching aid valued at 11 million Cedis to the school.

Pastor Zac Asuboni, Local Manager of the SDA schools in the District and Mr K. E. Keelson, Headmaster of the beneficiary schools, commended Mr Waskow and his family for establishing strong bonds of friendship with the school and called for maintenance of the good relations.

Mr Waskow said his special interest in education was because it was the only way Ghana could progress.
