'Sleeping in a coffin'- Ex-member reveals occult initiation experience

A former occult member, Elisha Malope, has shared chilling details about his alleged experiences within a secret society, claiming that initiation rituals involved acts of “selling one’s soul.”

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM on March 24, 2026, the ex-member alleged that one of the first steps he was made to undergo was lying in a coffin.

“I was asked to sleep in a coffin, and the reason is that you’re selling your soul to the devil,” he said.

According to him, the experience was not just physical but spiritual, describing what he referred to as a transition into another realm.

“With the kingdom I was in, when I was placed in a coffin, I appeared in the sea, that’s the marine kingdom,” he claimed.

He further alleged that the group operates as a secret society with strict rules and consequences for members who fail to comply.

“It’s a secret society, so if your spirit goes to where you’re directed and they don’t accept you, they could make you run mad or anything at all can happen to you, for you not to say anything concerning what you saw to anyone,” he stated.

The ex-member also claimed that influential individuals, including some Ghanaian pastors and well-known female gospel musicians, are part of the same “kingdom.”

When Prophecy Becomes Performance: A call for discernment in Ghana’s spiritual space

He described how members are required to maintain a dedicated space for their practices.

“There are some Ghanaian pastors and big female gospel musicians who are also in the kingdom. When they give you the powers you wanted, they would also give you some tasks to do.

“When you buy or rent a house, you should have a particular room where you could set up your occultic powers, and no one is supposed to step foot there. There are days you’re meant to visit the room,” he stated.

He added that members often gather for some social activities before engaging in rituals.

“Normally, my colleagues in the occult would come to my house to have fun, then we would enter the occult room for the necessary rituals. Everyone has an occult room in their house, so we could visit any one of us at a given time,” he noted.

According to the ex-member, involvement in such practices also affects family life.

“If you have a wife and kids, you have to get them another house to stay in because it’s not safe for them,” he said.

He cautioned against joining such groups, describing the experience as dangerous despite the supposed powers that come with it.

“Occult is not a good thing, and everyone who is in the occult has witchcraft. The moment you join, you’re given powers. I can do anything to anyone I want and I can also vanish,” he added.
