Silverbird cinema and Zain Screen Raavan

Silverbird Cenima, in collaboration with Zain communication network, on Tuesday brought sheer excitement to its customers with the screening of an Indian box office movie titled ‘Raavan’.

The screening forms part of the two outfits’ promotion dubbed Movietastic Tuesdays, which allows a random selection of Zain subscribers to win tickets to see great movies at the Cinema.

This is also aimed at promoting and getting some attention for entertainment in Ghana, while both Silverbird and Zain families reward customers.

Tuesday’s screening attracted quite a number of Zain and Silverbird customers. The movie package has been running for some weeks now and indications are that it will be running for the next six months. Different movies from Hollywood, Bollywood and Africa will be shown to entertain customers.

Tuesday’s movie, ‘Raavan’, is a story about Beera, a hardcore criminal played by Abhishek Bachchan, Inspector Dev (Vikran) and his wife Ragini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan).

For Beera, the only way to bridge the gap between the haves and have-not in his Lal Maati, India, is to rob the rich to take care of the poor. But Inspector Dev, who has just been posted to Lal Maati, will not let that happen.

He thus mounted a search to clear the town of criminals. While Beera was witnessing his step-sister’s marriage ceremony, the police interrupted and that led to exchange of gunshots. Beera got wounded in the neck and he was dragged into hiding by his family. The police arrested his sister, hoping that he will give in. But he didn’t.

Unfortunately, while in police custody, all the policemen on duty during the night managed to rape Beera’s sister. After she was released, she felt embarrassed, and hence committed suicide.

This left a big scar in Beera’s heart; therefore, he decided to teach the police a lesson. He then kidnapped the police inspector’s wife into the jungle. But Dev would stop at nothing to get his wife back. That set the tone for intrigue and suspense in the movie.

Ragini had the opportunity to listen to Beera’s story and feel his pain, after spending a long time with him and his gang in the jungle.

Gradually, she began to fall in love with Beera. This worsened the enmity between Dev and Beera as they now fight for love. ‘Raavan’, undoubtedly, is a must-see movie and is currently showing at the Silverbird Cinemas.
