Aloha Africa Cultural Troupe Making Impact

Aloha Africa Cultural Troupe, which is based in Accra, is set to mesmerize dance lovers in some parts of the country with its choreographic dance pieces.

The group, since its inception about a decade ago, has thrilled diverse audiences in the country and beyond with its own variations of traditional music and dance, as well as contemporary dance pieces.

Ghanaian traditional music and dance fans have been assured of magical performances from the group later this year during its impending music and dance shows in some selected areas in the country.

Through the efforts of its artistic directors, the group can boast of over twenty choreographed dance pieces that are accompanied by authentic African drum rhythms.

Aloha Africa Cultural Troupe’s mission is to promote and sustain African culture by presenting dance and music that illuminates the richness and diversity of African traditional values.

The group derives its dance techniques and methodology from movement characteristics, aesthetic qualities and the philosophy of African dance traditions, as well as the enormous movements and rhythmic resources available in various communities throughout Ghana.

Over the past years, the group has gained wide recognition throughout Ghana, the West African sub-region and America, largely due to its spectacular performances to highly enthusiastic audiences.

It has also held workshops and seminars on African music and dance for some selected schools in Ghana, as well as some foreign nationals who visited Ghana to learn Ghanaian traditional music and dance.

The group, which has three albums to its credit and was affiliated with the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in 2008, performed at the Busan Tafisa game held in South Korea and CAN 2008 held in Accra.

It has also performed a series of shows in the United States of America and some of the members of the group teach school children in the States.

The group has Issa Maria as its project coordinator with support from its leaders like Richard Kwabena, Austin Dodzie, Adjetey Francis Otsiewuo, Ernest Borketey and Michael Adgetey Osendah.

The group’s activities are being sponsored by Acveg Shipping and Trading Company, Anchor Clearing and Forwarding Compong Ltd and the chief of Katamanso.
