Awutus Mark Awubia Festival

Awutu Bereku (C/R), Sept. 2 , , Mr Kojo Yankah, the Central Regional Minister, has praised chiefs and elders in the Awutu traditional area for making the area one of the peaceful zones in the region. He said the area is devoid of chieftaincy disputes and urged the people to keep the peace and unity. Mr Yankah attributed this "enviable achievement" to good leadership of the Omanhene of the area, Abokuadi Whetty Agyeman Larbi and his elders. These were contained in a speech read on his behalf by Lt. Daniel WillIam Osardu (rtd), District Chief Executive for Awutu Effutu and Senya, to mark this year's Awubia festival of the chiefs and people of the Awutu traditional area. Mr Yankah appealed to other traditional areas where there are chieftaincy disputes to assist the Regional Coordinating Council ( RCC) as well as the regional house of chiefs to find lasting solutions, so that there would be peace in the region. Mr Yankah announced plans being taken by the RCC to alleviate the "spread of poverty in the region." This, he said , include the promotion of tourism which the region has comparative advantage over others in the country and asked chiefs in the area to embark on projects and programmes which would attract more tourists to the region.
