President Conned Minority MPs - Gen. Mosquito

The meeting between the leadership of Parliament and President Kufuor last December has been described as a ploy to influence public perception about the relationship between the minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the President.

The Member of Parliament for Wenchi West, Johnson Asiedu Nketia popularly known as ''General Mosquito'' has expressed reservations about that historical encounter.

''I think that they (Minority) were conned into going there, because the impression was that he (President) was going to meet the leadership of Parliament – both Majority and Minority – and they went there and managed to orgainse the Minority people to take a picture and put it on the front page of the Daily Graphic. I don’t know what they wanted it for?''

When reminded that pictures and their placements are part of editorial discretion of media houses, Mr Nketia said he suspected that the agenda was only a publicity gimmick.

He said the Minority’s meeting with the President was a disappointment, in that the Minority leadership did not relate to others, the agenda of the encounter. General Mosquito said he would never have gone to meet the President without knowing what the agenda was.

The NDC MP for Lawra, Dr Benjamin Kumbuor agreed with Mr Nketia.
