Kumasi would have had another feel of Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert before the year ends but organisers say they have shut their plans of taking the show to the Garden City.
Kojo Poku, a member of the A-Team, one of the organisers of the Rapperholic concert told Zionfelix.net that Sarkcess Music and A-Team decided to put up an edition of the event in Kumasi but they had to cancel their plans due to the death of Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, Queen mother of the Ashanti Kingdom and mother of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II.
Speaking at a press conference organised to launch this year’s edition of the show, he explained that the ban on noise in Kumasi led to the action of cancelling Rapperholic 2016 in Kumasi.
Kojo Poku promised a Rapperholic Concert in Kumasi next year when Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II is laid to rest.
“The queen mother is gone so there is a ban on noise making, drumming and dancing. We cannot go to Kumasi the years. Don’t be surprised to see a Rapperholic concert in Kumasi next year next year when she is put to rest and the whole town is calm.
This year we were going to Kumasi after Accra but because of the demise of the queen mother, we had to cancel that show.” Kojo Poku said.
2016 Rapperholic happens at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC) on December 25. The show is put together by Sarkcess Music and A-team.
Rapperholic concert in Kumasi was held four years ago during the Easter celebration.
