Amezando win Golden Tulip Hotel golf

Accra, Feb. 1, GNA - Essau Amezando scored 42 points to win this year's Golden Tulip Hotel Golf championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

David Martins came second with 41 points, beating Phil McCaulley and H. Agbenu on countback, Ted Deignan took the fifth position with 40 points, beating Mike Aggrey on countback while Frank Etwi-Barimah played Hole-In-One on Hole 18.

Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong won the Ladies event with 44 points, Mary Asafu-Adjaye came second with 41 points, Shuppi Mapuranga was third with 40 points, Funke Majekodunmi took the fourth position with 39 points while Elizabeth Quartey placed fifth with 38 points. About 150 amateur golfers took part in the one-day 18-Hole Stableford competition.

Mr Mike Ezan, Vice President of the Achimota Golf Club, appealed to the Golden Tulip Hotel to consider increasing the number of participants of the competition from 150 to 180 to enable more up and coming golfers to participate and improve upon their performance.

Mr Thom Sherif, General Manager of Golden Tulip Hotel was assisted by his wife, Elizabeth and Captain of the Achimota Club, Mr Samuel Adetola to present the prizes to the winners.
