President Mahama is moving too fast – Bisa Kdei

Ghanaian highlife musician, Bisa Kdei, has shared his views on leadership, accountability, and the current state of governance in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on March 26, 2026, the artiste mentioned that he was unable to vote during a previous election due to illness, despite his strong desire for change.

“Last two years, I was somewhere the voting was happening and I was actually sick, so I couldn’t vote. I was all for change, and I’m happy the change came,” he said.

Bisa Kdei emphasised the importance of hard work and accountability, noting that leaders must be praised when they perform well but also held responsible when they fall short.

“The thing is, if you work hard, people will praise you. At the end of the day, it’s our money and our country, so we have to speak up. If a leader is not doing their work properly, we have to say it,” he stated.

He further stressed that governance affects everyone, including his own family, particularly when it comes to taxes and national development.

“My family is here as well, and when taxes come, we will all be involved,” he shared.

Commenting on the current administration led by John Dramani Mahama, Bisa Kdei suggested that the president appears to be acting swiftly in his approach to governance.

“I think Mahama is moving too fast,” he said.

However, he also cautioned that Ghanaians have a tendency to forget progress over time, drawing a comparison to the music industry.

“Some Ghanaians forget things easily. This also happens in our music circle. The dollar has dropped and maybe getting to the latter part after four years and the dollar rises again, people would say he has not done anything,” he added.
