14 companies register for Table Tennis League

Accra, Nov. 11, GNA - Fourteen factories have so far registered for the Greater Accra Regional Association of Factories Table Tennis League which is expected to begin in early December. Mr Vincent Arhin, Technical Co-ordinator of Table Tennis Programmes of the National Sports Council, who announced this in Accra on Saturday, named the factories as Piccadilly Biscuits Limited, Pens and Plastics Ghana Limited, Akosombo Textiles Limited and Pepsi Cola Limited.

Others are Cadbury Ghana Limited, Ashfoam Limited, Latex Foam Limited and Qualiplastic Limited. The rest are Toyota Company Limited, Rana Motors, Interplast Ghana Limited, KIA Motors, CFAO Ghana and Cocoa Processing Company Limited.

Mr Arhin said the idea of organizing the Tennis League stemmed from the fact that the sport demands body movement of the body which is ideal for all workers. Mr Arhin called on factories that have not as yet registered to do so since engaging in sports would keep their workers stay healthy at all times.

The association would hold their maiden meeting on Thursday, November 16.

Mr Arhin who later addressed the closing session of a five-day Trainer of Trainees workshop for 20 coaches drawn from the Greater Accra Region entreated the coaches to impart the knowledge they acquired to serve their communities. The participants were presented with certificates.
