Eight Local Players To Join Stars

EIGHT locally based players will make a case for their colleagues tomorrow when they feature for the senior national football team, the Black Stars in an international friendly with Bundesliga side, VFB Stuttgart.

Accra Hearts of Oak?s Bernard Don Bortey, Dan Quaye and Daniel Coleman, Kumasi Asante Kotoko?s Charles Taylor, Aziz Ansah, Yusif Chibsah and Shilla Illiasu and King Faisal?s Habib Mohammed have been invited to fill the vacuum created by the absence of the foreign-based professionals.

Their invitation is in contrast to an earlier declaration by Coach Ratomir Dujkovic to slam the door of the national team on locally based players.

The Serbian coach was reported to have made that remarks as a result of accusations of acting as manager for the locally based players.

Sources close to the FA however hinted that with the exception of Charles Taylor, all the players have responded to the call to feature for the team and left the capital last night.

According to the source, Taylor?s failure to respond to the call was as a result of an injury he sustained in their first leg CAF/MTN encounter with USCAFOOT of Madagascar which they won 6-0.

Taylor was substituted in that game and even raises doubt about his availability for the second leg in a fortnight?s time.
