NPP MP in MASLOC Fraud

The NPP MP for the Akuapim South constituency, Hon. Magnus Opare Asamoah who is seeking re-election is alleged to have withdrawn MASLOC funds meant for applicants in the constituency.

The MASLOC project is supposed to loan out money to people engaging businesses who need assistance financially to stay in business and expand. Through the NPP chairperson of the constituency, some people applied for the loans. Having qualified, the MASLOC headoffice gave approval for the release of the funds for the applicants.

Very characteristic of people who always want to reap where they have not sown, the MP upon hearing the news decided to open an account with a bank in the constituency and connive with the District Officer of the project to divert the money. Reliable investigations prove that the MP wants to use the MASLOC money as a conduit to buy the votes of polling stations chairpersons who are mandated to vote on Tuesday for the next Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP in the December Elections.

For the past seven years, the President who launched to "zero percent tolerance to corruption" has been asking for evidence to prosecute offenders. Clearly, this a perfect example, where the MASLOC headoffice has reprimanded the local officer for official misconduct. We wait to see what the President of Ghana will do with such a corrupt MP who doubles as a deputy minister for Roads and Transport.
