Bands Alive indeed!

It all begun with the discovery of twelve bands, their mission was to play live band music, ranging from pop music through soul music and right down to our high-life and hip-life music, when the concept of reviving life band music, was introduced through the Bands Alive competition, many were skeptical of its success.

However, week after week, the bands have proven to Ghanaians, that there is hope for live band music, and all it needs is the push and the help of veteran instrumentalists like Charles Amoah, who is known for the great skills he exhibits behind the drums, Mac Tontoh, who is a trumpeter, and has contributed immensely to the success of the Osibisa Band, just to mention a few.

In the initial stages, the twelve bands, which had interesting names like liberty, The Sax, M1, Trinity, S-Touch, 3*3, Kakra, Warriors, CAF, BIB, Big Shot, and down to Amen, were given the task of performing to their audience, and soliciting for votes, in their quest to become the sole winner, or at least part of the last four bands for the final stage.

What makes the show one of the must-see on television, despite the fact that since TV3 begun its in-house competitions, which includes the unending Mentor series, which finally ended, and the Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, the station has won the affection of its viewers, who are always glued to their seats, awaiting the outcome of each eviction show, so as to witness if their favourite band would be shown the exit.

The choice of Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, a.k.a KKD, the host of Bands Alive, was indeed a smart move by the organizers, not only does he have good diction, he has proven to be a guru in the field of emceeing, which he begun way back in time, and every second on the stage he adds spice to make the show as lively as possible.

If there is anything to watch out for every Friday night on the show, then it will be fashion exhibited by the members of the bands, and the host KKD brings fashion to life, from his suits and tie to match, with his shirts to his local designed costumes, which he clads himself.

With the show drawing to a close, after last Friday’s performance, which saw the final four bands Liberty, S-Touch, BIB, M1 and finally Amen, competing for the first position, your exciting Chronicle’s Entertainment Train wishes them the best on D-day.

But what baffles your train driver, is what happens to the studio audience, especially the white man, who cannot stay at home for the love he has for TV3’ studio B, and several others like him that throng the studio?
