Controversial entertainment pundit cum politician Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A Plus, has clashed with MzGee over unsavoury comments he made about the government while speaking on the recent power outage.
During his submission on the show, he made some derogatory remarks about the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, describing some party members as "stupid and foolish."
The comment did not sit well with the host of the show, MzGee, who entreated A Plus to retract some of the offensive words he used. However, the entertainment pundit refused to do so.
This is what ensued in the conversation between MzGee and A Plus during the United Showbiz programme, which was aired on UTV and monitored by GhanaWeb.
A Plus: Do they [ECG] ask for NPP members in a particular area before turning off the lights? It affects everyone, regardless of their political colour. They [some NPP members] are foolish to the extent that even with the power outage, they are expecting to break the 8... The party is no more attractive. It is filled with stupid and foolish people.
MzGee: Some of the words are quite harsh… Can you retract some of the words you used?
A Plus: Do it yourself. What I am saying is supposed to come from you. We should be bold enough to speak the truth.
MzGee: You can express your views, but some of the words are too harsh for me. We would ask our audience to forgive us for his utterances and some names he mentioned. We have no idea what he is talking about.
A Plus: If I speak and you apologize for it, then don't call me tomorrow.
Recently, many people, including politicians, have raised concerns about the unstable power supply in certain areas.
Meanwhile, during the State of the Nation's Address (SONA) on February 27, 2024, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated that his administration deserves to be applauded after having avoided 'Dumsor' (power outage) for seven years since he assumed office.
The government and the ECG have declined to introduce a load-shedding timetable, stating that the irregular power supply is a result of ongoing maintenance works.
