Top 4: Mixed reaction by coaches

Coaches of the two most glamorous clubs in the country, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko have expressed mixed reaction about how their teams fared when the two locked horns at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Coach Malik Jabir, interim coach for Kotoko said he was impressed with the performance of his side.

He said Kotoko was unlucky to have drawn the game and put the blame on the injury of some of their key players as well as the underperformance of his midfield which saw the fabulous boys drawing the first blood in the first half through Frank Osei.

The coach who took over from Coach Abdul Razak on Friday said he played with a virtually half fit squad and was impressed with their output.

" At least we picked a vital point in the absence of Yussif Chipsah, Issah Ahmed, Dan Acquah and that is good news to us" he stressed He said his attackers could have recorded more goals if they had a bit of precision upfront adding that he was poised to parade a more potent attack when they meet Liberty Professionals in Accra on Sunday. "I hope all the boys will have recovered from their various injures before we invade Accra on Sunday" he added.

Coach Malik was hopeful that his team could still recapture and defend the trophy they won last year and said Liberty will be the first casualty in the remaining three games.

On his part, Hearts head coach Herbert Addo expressed disappointment with his teams performance that saw them pulling a late equalizer through Bernard Don Bortey.

Addo blamed his boys for been complacent and tactically indisciplined in the first half, adding that "they just failed to play to instructions and we nearly paid for it".

Defending the substitutions he made, coach Addo said the introduction of Nanka Bruce and Prince Tagoe for Lawrence Adjei and Frank Kornu respectively slightly tilted the pendulum in the Phobian's favour.

"I had great confidence in my substitutes and I was therefore not surprised with their performance that gave us the much needed equalizer" Coach Addo said though his boys played casually in the first half, he was convinced that the equalizer and a possible match winner was a matter of course.

Commenting on his next game against King Faisal, coach Addo said the team will guide against complacency and aim at plucking the maximum points at the expense of Alhaji Grunsah's boys.

"We are going to Kumasi well prepared to win the game to keep our aspirations on course".

He said the club's quest to win the trophy was on track and he has the hope that the team will improve upon its performance to make the dream a reality.
