Reverend Eddie Eyison, National Treasurer of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has indicated that the union has introduced an association bundle that allows musicians to call each other for free as part of welfare interventions and support systems for members.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on March 16, 2026, he explained that MUSIGA has taken steps to provide both financial security and communication support for its members through partnerships with corporate institutions.
According to him, the union has secured an insurance policy for musicians with SIC Insurance Company and also introduced a pension scheme in partnership with Stallion Group to help members prepare for life after active music careers.
Rev Eyison also disclosed that MUSIGA has collaborated with telecommunications company MTN Ghana to introduce a special communication package that allows musicians to stay connected at no cost when contacting one another.

“We have an insurance scheme from SIC and a pension scheme from Stallion. Apart from that, MUSIGA has enrolled with MTN, and we also have an association bundle where every musician can call another musician for free,” he said.
The union’s broader mandate and objectives are aimed at strengthening the music industry and protecting the interests of musicians in Ghana.
The primary goal of MUSIGA is to ensure the full organisation of musicians across the country so they can collectively pursue their professional development while safeguarding their welfare and rights.
The union also works to protect the creative and performing rights of musicians, ensuring their works are respected and properly managed within the industry.
MUSIGA further seeks to maintain a strong voice in national discussions that affect musicians, particularly in areas related to employment conditions, remuneration, and professional relationships between musicians, employers, and industry stakeholders.
In addition to advocacy, the organisation focuses on the general welfare of musicians by promoting initiatives that support their wellbeing during and after their careers.
This includes programmes aimed at retired musicians as well as efforts to establish health, life, and accident insurance schemes for members.
