British Council Donate Books To Bolga Library

Bolgatanga (U/E), July 10 The British council has donated books worth five million cedis to the Bolgatanga library as part of activities marking the first 18 months of the council's outreach programme in Bolgatanga. Mr Colin Stevenson, director of the council in Ghana, said the books were bought with a special fund provided by the British high commission. He said the council will strive to meet the demands of the patrons of the outreach programme and urged them to suggest the types of books and services they want. Receiving the books, Hajia Fati Seidu, deputy Upper East regional minister, thanked the British government and hoped more donations would follow. Mr Fredrick Noble Baada, regional librarian, said the books which included those on management of small businesses, ecology and small scale mining, were selected by the library. He said for once the library was asked to indicate its own preferences and that the books were not dumped on it as it had often been the case and hoped other donors would follow the example.
