Celebrated Ghanaian satirist Kwaku Sintim-Misa, more commonly known as KSM has revealed he failed all his final papers at the end of his Secondary School education.
“I didn’t do too well in the A-Levels: I actually ‘bombed’! My results were terrible …it was E, E, E, F in all [four] paper. It was miserable. Just terrible,” he confessed on Wednesday.
KSM made this known for the first time when he was hosted by Kwabena Anokye Adisi, commonly known as Bola Ray on STARR CHAT on Starr 103.5FM in Accra.
The ‘King of Comedy’ – a proud alumnus of Prempeh College in Kumasi – discussed his educational experience at the prestigious Ashanti Region College and intimated that although he enjoyed his time as a student, he did not come out with good grades.
KSM said out of all the papers he failed, he was taken aback to see the results of his Literature paper. He got an ‘F’.
“I was shocked. Especially with Literature,” he said, adding: “I’m thinking it was my handwriting. I think my handwriting was that bad they just decided Ooo, ‘Clear-off men’!...l used to tutor people in literature and those people passed…they all passed! They got A’s and B’s in literature and I had an F.”
According to him, the experience was embarrassing. “I went to the exams council with my father, and we got out of the car, went to get the results. I came back and I was shocked…It was miserable,” he said.
The host of Friday night live show ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ on Accra-based Metro TV, who said he had to re-write his papers: Literature, Government, and the General Paper, said he endeavoured to achieve excellence when he got a second chance to study drama in the United States of America.
“I had to do what we call the ‘Second World War’: I re-sat the A-Level but I don’t know what I got because before the results came out, I got the opportunity to go to the US.”
KSM has now staged over 100 successful one-man comedy shows with best sellers such as The Saga of a Returnee, Politically Incorrect and the popular Afia Siriboe act. His upcoming show KSM @ 58 is scheduled for December 25, 2014.
