Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has been honoured by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a special VVIP package and an ambassadorial role following his courtesy visit to the university ahead of his Rapperholic concert in Kumasi.

Videos circulating on social media captured the moment the rapper received the package from KNUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Christian Agyare, who also announced plans to formally or informally appoint Sarkodie as an ambassador for the institution.

According to Prof. Agyare, the move is part of the university’s efforts to engage influential personalities who can help promote KNUST as it transitions “from excellence to eminence.”

“Maybe formally or informally appoint you as the ambassador for the university. Now we are moving from excellence to eminence, so we need people like you to promote the school,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor added that Sarkodie’s decision to visit and interact with students showed his confidence in the university and its vision.

“If you didn’t believe in the university, you would not come. The mere fact that you’re here to interact with our students means you’re aware of what we’re doing and where we’re heading to,” Prof. Agyare stated.

Sarkodie expressed appreciation after receiving the recognition from the university.

The rapper’s visit forms part of activities leading up to his Rapperholic concert in Kumasi, where the rapper is expected to connect with fans and celebrate his contribution to Ghanaian music.
