Nollywood actor and fashion model Clinton Joshua Ezewele has revealed that acting was never part of his original plans, describing his entry into the film industry as unexpected.

Speaking in an interview on TVC on April 22, 2026, he disclosed that his career began in modelling before transitioning into acting through an opportunity.

“Before I came into Nollywood, I never wanted to act. I never thought about it for once in my life. It came as an opportunity; it was handed over to me,” he said.

According to him, he was working as a fashion model for a brand when a film director reached out through the company and eventually convinced him to try acting despite his initial reluctance.

“I used to model before. I was a fashion model, and I worked for a brand. A director reached out to the brand, and they got my number. She reached out to me, asked me if I wanted to act, and I said no at first. She kept on asking, so I decided to give it a try, and I did,” he explained.

He mentioned that his first film project became a turning point in his career, bringing him into the spotlight.

“I did my first film, and that was basically what blew me up,” he noted.

Clinton Joshua also addressed perceptions about his career, particularly being labelled a “YouTube actor,” clarifying that while the description may be factual, it is sometimes used in a derogatory way.

“I don’t blame people who categorise me as a YouTube actor because I’ve never been in a cinema film or a Netflix project before. People saw me for the first time in a YouTube film, and usually we’re prone to doing things like that or making comments like that,” he said.

However, he pointed out that some critics use the term to undermine his talent and question his abilities as an actor.

“But again, when they refer to me as a YouTube actor, it means this person doesn’t know how to act or doesn’t know anything about the craft just because he’s usually on YouTube films,” he stated.

Despite his initial lack of interest in acting, the actor admitted that his passion for the craft has grown over time.

“I never really loved the job as an actor, but right now, I’m so into acting,” he added.
