For young people growing up with dreams of pursuing white-collar careers, Afro-dancehall artiste Stonebwoy has disclosed that if he had not ended up in music, he would have become a soldier.
Speaking on Off The Record in London, aired on April 22, 2026, the “Jejereje” hitmaker said he admires the discipline and structure associated with the military, as well as the uniform.
According to him, his upbringing also played a role in shaping that admiration, noting that his father is an ex-military man and that he was raised with similar values of discipline and order.

“Personally, I would have loved to be a soldier. I just love the uniform and I love the discipline that comes with it. It fascinates me to be in the military. I love that because I’m one person who was grown like that, so I think the influence was right there. I love discipline. I love orderliness. Positivity aside everything,” he said.
Stonebwoy, who pursued music, also admitted that his career choice initially created some tension with his father, although things have since settled.
“I mean, I had a little hurdle with my dad, because for whatever reason at first, but now it’s what it is. You can’t stop what it’s supposed to be. If I was to become a doctor, I’m not sure anybody could have stopped me. I would still have become a doctor,” he added.
Meanwhile, Stonebwoy is set to stage the international debut of his flagship festival, BHIM Fest, in London at the OVO Arena Wembley.
The event is scheduled for August 15, 2026, and will form part of what organisers describe as a major expansion of the festival beyond West Africa.
BHIM Fest, which is held annually in Accra and typically attracts tens of thousands of attendees, has become one of Ghana’s most prominent artiste-led live music events.
He has previously sold out venues across London, including the O2 Academy Islington, Electric Brixton and the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
