Ghanaian actress and TV personality Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about her traditional marriage, divorce, and ongoing relationship with her husband, revealing why she continues to wear her wedding ring.
Speaking in an interview on TV3 on December 17, 2025, McBrown said she prefers to handle divorce privately and avoid turning it into public drama.
“I would never has spoken about it but I just want let people know that we can’t always argue over divorce and take it to court. We should always let divorce look ugly,” she said.
McBrown described her husband as a gentleman who has never insulted or laid hands on her, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect even when a marriage faces challenges.
“I can’t fight with a man I had my child with. My husband has never insulted me or laid hands on me ever since I met him. He’s a gentleman but marriage is not always rosy,” she explained.
She encouraged women to be financially independent, noting that it makes moving on from a relationship easier if things go wrong.
“I will urge every woman to work hard for her money. When things go wrong, you can move on easily and you won’t find yourself wanting.

“It’s so beautiful to have a man who supports you. It’s nice for him to have your back. I got tired, we discussed about it and he understood my points,” she stated.
On the state of her current relationship, McBrown said she and her husband are now friends who co-parent their child.
She stressed that while reconciliation is possible if God wills it, she will not remain in a marriage that brings suffering.
“We are friends now, we’re taking care of our child together. If God says I will return to my husband, it will surely happen but I won’t be there and suffer to death,” she noted.
McBrown also explained why she continues to wear her wedding ring despite the divorce.
“I didn’t want a big wedding so I didn’t sign the marriage in court. I was married traditionally so as we’re going our separate ways, we had our families to come dissolve the marriage even though they were not happy about the divorce,” she shared.
She added, “We had to understand ourselves better to see if we will come back to each other. I’m still wearing my ring because he said he wants me to wear it and it make it easier for us whenever we want to go back to each other.”
