A Ghanaian popular highlife singer, Akwasi Opoku aka Kwaisey Pee has revealed he is financially bankrupt to the point that, he borrows cars before driving around in town.

According to the musician, he has no other supporting business apart from music, therefore when things go bad it seriously affect his personal life.

The talented singer sharing his experience on Accra-based Joy FM’s ‘Drive Time’ admitted, “All is not well with me financially, there has been “ups and downs”.

As for money, I’m telling you I even need yours. I’m broke as hell,” he told the host. The ‘Mehia Odo’ hit maker said he continues borrowing splash cars because he doesn’t want people to see him walking on the street.

Giving account of his dwindling music career, he mentioned that, the last time he performed a paid show was in December 2016, all other shows he performs are put together by himself.

He blamed his current financial woes on fallen sales of CDs which has says has been his only source of revenue since inception of his music career. Kwaisey Pee also indicated that, artistes in recent times survive on proceeds from stage performances but he hardly gets such opportunities.

“When things get bad, there’s nothing much you can do. All you need to do is maybe get back into the studio and start working and see if you can get something but this time is not working,” he sadly said.

The son of the late legendary musician Agyeiku, burst it out that he is currently not married because, he’s unable to meet the high demands and expectations of women.

“I feel like being alone, women always come in with a lot of expectations especially when you are a popular guy; they see you driving Bentley and they get excited without knowing the car is even borrowed," he submitted.
