How to care for your artificial nails

The promise of acrylic nails also known as fake nails, nail extensions, fashion nails or artificial nails is so sweet that ladies enjoy a healthy benefit aside it being a lifesaver.

Anyone who has worn it obviously knows it is a lifesaver for those who have a bad habit for biting their nails or those who have the not growing but the short natural nails they are endowed with.

If fitted properly, acrylic nails are usually not problematic; however long term use and poorly fitted nails and management can seriously damage the nail bed and hamper natural nail growth.

With a little bit of care, you can keep these artificial nails looking healthy and flawless; so follow the steps below to keep your nails healthy and strong.

First thing first, treat acrylic nails just as how you treat your real natural nails by always keeping your nails dry. Avoid the embarrassment of your overlays lifting; hence anytime you step out from the pool, the shower, after dish washing or anything that wets your nails, part dry your wet nails with a towel or cloth.

The second step is treating your nails like jewels not tools. Wear gloves or rubber when doing domestic chores like dish washing, gardening, and cooking; this is to avoid cracks, breaking or in even worse situations, water being trapped beneath the acrylic nail and forming a fungus in the warm environment between it and your natural nail.

The third step is dusting your hands with a bit of baby powder if you have naturally moist hands; it helps wick away any moisture.

Wash your hands with anti bacterial soup.

Overlay lifting of your artificial nail easily leads to damage and bacterial infection. You are entreated to wash your hands regularly with an antibacterial soap to cut down on the possibility of bacterial infection.

Avoid delayance of fixing loosed nails

Do not do your own nail job; commit yourself by visiting the saloon at least a week for a repair of a lifted nail or broken nail and for coating or polishing for a fresher look.

Apply lotion to hands and in between fingers to prevent dryness

Overly dry hands could ruin the look of the acrylic; bacteria and fungi breed in damp places, so try not to allow your hands to stay moist for long periods of time.

Always put in mind that for a classy look of your nails, it takes commitment, care and maintenance to do that.
