Ghanaian comedian Funny Face has opened up about the major role the late Fennec Okyere played in shaping his career.

Speaking in an interview with Kula, the actor revealed that at a time when he was still struggling to find his path in entertainment, Fennec Okyere was among the few people who saw potential in him and decided to help him grow.

According to Funny Face, Fennec introduced him to platforms that gave him early exposure, including radio appearances and stage performances, which gradually helped him gain attention in the comedy scene.

The comedian also disclosed that one of his breakthrough comedy lines, “Gucci featuring Louis Vuitton,” actually came from Fennec.

He explained that the joke became a people’s favorite during a major comedy event and eventually opened doors for more performances and acting opportunities.

Funny Face noted that building a name in the entertainment industry at the time was far more difficult because social media platforms like TikTok did not exist, forcing upcoming entertainers to rely heavily on live performances and television appearances to gain recognition.

“It was Fennec who gave me that joke, Gucci featuring Louis Vuitton, from there, I got gigs. That time, there was no TikTok; you had to build from the ground up,” he said.

He credited those early opportunities for helping him transition successfully into mainstream comedy and acting.

Fennec Okyere, widely known for managing Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese, was tragically murdered at his residence at Manet Gardens on Spintex Road in Accra in March 2014.
