Golfers Shake Tafo Course

Frank A Sogbodjor of Celebrity Golf Club and the indomitable iron lady of Achimota Golf Club, Mona Captan, won the 8th Tafo Open Golf championships which ended at the club’s all-green course at Tafo last weekend.

While Sogbodjor retired 159 gross over two days which began on the Farmers Day, Mona romped home to her fourth successive win, retiring 173 gross also over two days.

F.A. Asorgba of Tema 161 gross, W. E. Ankrah 163 gross, P. L. McCaulley 172 gross and P. K. Amenyo 173 gross took the second to fifth positions respectively behind Sogbodjor in the men’s scratch play.

In the ladies version, Valentine Manteaw, with a gross score of 174, finished as the runner-up with Sussie Kumassah 187 gross following.

Doglo Joseph returned 148 net to win the men’s handicap event, forcing M. O. Aggrey, 153 net, Yeboah Albert, 154 net, and K. T. Addo to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th positions respectively.

Frank Adu won the Group ‘B’ encounter, carding 150 net and beating E. K. Amezado, 153 net, and K. Agyemang Agyekum, 154 net, in that order.

Essel Koomson won the ladies handicap play with 156 net. She beat Elizabeth Quartey 165 net to the second place and in the Youth championship Leonnard Asante beat Kwaku Dawudu both scoring 66 net and 69 net respectively.

Four personalities; P. K. Amoabeng and Major John Nyen, both of the Unique Trust Financial Services, Kweku Okyere of Klogg Construction and Elizabeth Essel-Koomson who jointly spearheaded the refurbishment of the course, were honoured by the organising committee for their spirit.
