Tema Chief Executive Seeks Assistance Of Industries

Tema Nii Armah Ashietey, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, has met chief executives of industries in the municipality and appealed to them to voluntarily assist the TMA in the development of Tema. He said the TMA is over-stretched in the provision and maintenance of facilities like roads, markets, schools and sanitation and cannot achieve its set goals without support from business organisations. The chief executive said the TMA has spent more than 440 million cedis on the street lighting project which is yet to be completed by Al-Afra Limited, an electrical company, while improving sanitation is costing the assembly close to one billion cedis this year. Nii Ashietey said the TMA has embarked on beautification programmes and appealed to the organisations to plant trees and green grass to beautify their surroundings to discourage the dumping of refuse and defecation around their premises. The assembly, he said, is building a new public library for Tema near the Tema Secondary School and asked for the organisations' assistance in stocking and managing it.
