Papa Owusu's Murder -Rejoinder

The recent discovery of ghanaweb has been an invaluable source of information for all Ghanaians, either backhome or some of us who are still plying our trade abroad. Articles and stories taken from Ghanahomepage have become an integral part of dinner table conversations for most Ghanaians.

It's therefore sad to question one of your current articles about the untimely death of Papa Owusu in NJ.

The unashamely frequent use of the phrase "alleged murderer" without any basis of facts on the article posted on Saturday 9 April betrays your initial jounalistic fairness approach to this tragic event. The death of anyone in such circumstances is tragic, and is particularly irresponsible when journalistic investigations is so one-sided and could lend itself to kangaroo media court.

You have either chosen to ignore the possibility of self defence in such a high tension relationship (evidence collaborated by attending officers) or the rationality of the woman NOT benefitting in any way from Papa's death.

As iterated earlier it's not in our Ghanaian culture for relationship scuffels to end up in such way, but I also hope we have the courage to speak up against abuse (either mentally or physically) of spouses.

I'm not sure if this plea for tolerant journalism will be posted for others to see, but I hope future stories are none biased.

Yours sincerely
